The English links we’ve drawn so far are on the north-west coast. Royal Birkdale’s flat fairways run along the valleys between the Southport dunes, rather than over them.
Across the Mersey on the Wirral, Royal Liverpool at Hoylake sits beside the Dee estuary, looking across the water to the hills of north Wales. The Hilbre islands lie off the shore at the mouth of the estuary, and one of the holes at Hoylake is named after the smallest of them, Little Eye.
Our England golf prints are from that stretch of coast, for whoever’s played it or is still planning the trip.
